If you've held back that urge of yours to buy a PS3, your wait has finally paid off! Sony has launched the 80GB PS3 in India, which comes bundled with a copy of Resistance 2 and boasts of a pretty decent price tag of Rs. 25,990.
All right don’t go sobbing to your mom, since we haven’t received any official confirmation about this yet, but it seems Electronic Arts is considering axing the Need for Speed series for good.
Either way we’ll keep you updated as and when we hear any sort of official announcement from EA.
All the people out there who’ve been contemplating picking up a PlayStation 3 may be happy to know that the console (40 GB version) has now become cheaper by Rs. 2000 so it costs Rs. 22,990 as opposed to Rs. 24,990. Here’s what PlayStation India’s head honcho Atindriya Bose had to say:
"We are excited to bring to Indian consumer offers like these during the Christmas. This not only gives a boost to gaming in India but also makes the PlayStation 3 more affordable than ever. We recognize the need of the Indian gamers and stand committed to develop gaming as the most interactive entertainment mode."
I still don’t understand how a Rs. 2000 drop makes this console "more affordable than ever".
![]() | Looks phenomenal The most stylish game on the block Plays really well Almost as charming as the Sands of Time | ![]() | Too easy for it's own good Can get monotonous |
Like most male protagonists on the block, the new Prince thinks with his crotch instead of his brain. He gives up searching for his donkey to peruse this spunky little acrobatic girl, who just so happens to be in the middle of a world of trouble. It turns out her father - for reasons that'll be explained through the course of the game - has released an ancient evil upon the land.
This evil known only as Ahriman has been in captivity for over thousands of years so yeah, he's pretty ticked off about the whole episode. To get back at his captors, he starts corrupting the land by drowning it in a pulsating black goo of sorts that destroys everything it touches. Now it's up to the Prince and Elika to make sure Ahriman's shoved back into the same place he was holed up for thousands of years. To do so, they'll have to traverse Elika's kingdom, the City of Light cleansing off all the vile corruption that's currently engulfing it.
Unlike previous Prince of Persia games, PoP now allows you to choose your destination, granting you a bit of freedom instead of forcing you down a particular road. Liberating the land from the corruption means you'll have to travel to various areas, but the order in which you do so is entirely up to you. Once you liberate a particular patch of land you can then teleport from one fertile land to another without actually traveling all the way there. As and when you find yourself getting a bit lost, ask Elika for some help and she'll gladly point you in the right direction.
Once you platform your way to the heart of a corrupted area, you'll have to indulge in some combat against a boss or a mini boss. After slashing away at him/her for a couple of minutes, you'll be able to purge the land off all evil and corruption. From there on, you'll have to collect a certain amount of orbs that spring up all over the place enabling Elika to upgrade her powers. This is a mandatory process since those newly acquired powers are the only way you’ll be able to access certain areas that you couldn't earlier.
![]() | Cop chases are still fun Cool customization options Ample game modes to choose from | ![]() | A technical nightmare God awful voice acting Terrible story |
Terrible acting aside this game is a technical nightmare and the first time you boot up the game you’ll literally be shell shocked not because it looks phenomenal but because you’ll wonder how Black Box actually managed to make a game that looks worse than Most Wanted - a three year old title. In recent times I have yet to come across such an ugly and a lifeless game that literally made me wanna tear my eyes out. Buildings are just plain blocky structures with no detail whatsoever, roads have absolutely no textures, car detail is appalling and I’ve seen better scenery in Burnout revenge – the PS2 version mind you. To blind your eyes from the terrible visuals on screen EA has conveniently bumped up the bloom to insane levels but all the bloom in the world cannot hide the fact that this game is just plain hideous.
While no platforms were mentioned, the video played at the event hinted that the game might be exclusive to Mac and PC users. We’ll keep you updated as and when we hear anything more.
It’s been just a few hours since the official announcement of Diablo III and the website for the game has already gone live with two videos – one cinematic and one gameplay, can find the website here.
Here’s a bit of the game’s story:
When Deckard Cain returns to the ruins of Tristram's Cathedral seeking clues to new stirrings of evil, a comet from the heavens strikes the very ground where Diablo once entered the world. The comet carries a dark omen in its fiery being and it calls the heroes of Sanctuary to defend the mortal world against the rising powers of the Burning Hells – and even the failing luminaries of the High Heavens itself.
From the gameplay video, it seems a lot like what they did with StarCraft 2 – they stayed close to the game’s roots where everything from the interface to the gameplay is concerned. New inclusions include a destructible environment, and this is the first time that’s ever been used in an RPG.

Prince of Persia Prodigy
Check out This Link: Home PageAwesum Graphics man.. !! Can't wait to play this one
With the latest Prince of Persia game, Ubisoft are planning on giving this series an entirely new facelift. For starters they're ditching the Sands of Time (which means no more rewinding or slowing down time) as well as the Prince we were introduced to in the Sands of Time for a new character who doesn't come from sort of a Royal family. He's merely an adventurer who’s trying to save the world against the corruption that threatens to engulfs it.
But this time round he's not alone in his noble quest; he'll be accompanied throughout the game by an AI-controlled hottie who goes by the name of Elika. Elika happens to be the last of the guardians who were to ensure that the corruption corroding the land stayed put. That obviously didn't work out as planned and now she's making up for it by giving her undying "attention" to the Prince. Unfortunately Ubisoft are not including co-operative gameplay this game, so you’ll be at the mercy of their AI at all times.
Gameplay-wise details are still a bit sketchy but we do know that the new Prince will imbibe tons of Altair's Parkour abilities, enabling him to indulge in all sorts of acrobatic abilities amidst a brand new open world concept. Also, unlike previous games, you won't have to waste time fighting large groups of enemies; you'll most likely go up against a single opponent at a time – but we're dead sure it's going to be a lot harder than it sounds.
The game's being made using the Anvil engine, the same one that powered last year's Assassin's Creed, and as you can see by the screen Ubi have ditched the gritty real-world tones in favor of a more "illustrative" look. We like what we see so far.
Far Cry 2
With Far Cry 2 Ubisoft ditched the island setting from Far Cry in favor of Africa's scorching savannas and will put players in the boots of an all-new character who's tasked with hunting down a nefarious criminal known only as the jackal. Similar to last year's S.T.A.L.K.E.R., players will be able to tackle this open world as they seem fit undertaking missions from various people, allying themselves with various factions and so on. In addition to this open world gameplay, a 50-hour single player and jaw-dropping visuals courtesy of the Dunia engine, Far Cry 2 will also feature a robust MP component for up to 16 players featuring "persistent rewards and experience levels" a la Call of Duty 4.
