When the iPhone 3G was announced, unlike Airtel, Vodafone made no formal announcement that it would be bringing the much awaited iPhone to India.

Apple, though, confirmed by mentioning that India would get the iPhone 3G through Airtel and Vodafone.

Now Vodafone has announced that people can pre-register for the iPhone with them, indicating that the iPhone will be available soon. The company is tight-lipped on the question 'How soon?'. All they are willing to divulge is that the iPhone will be compatible only with the 2G networks and some of the iPhone 3G's features may not work here.

Airtel is inviting people to book their iPhone with them.

It’s time once again, to unsheathe your demonslaying sword... Blizzard opened their World Wide Invitational today with the announcement of one of the most anticipated sequels in the history of action-RPGs - Diablo III

While no platforms were mentioned, the video played at the event hinted that the game might be exclusive to Mac and PC users. We’ll keep you updated as and when we hear anything more.

It’s been just a few hours since the official announcement of Diablo III and the website for the game has already gone live with two videos – one cinematic and one gameplay, can find the website here.

Here’s a bit of the game’s story:

When Deckard Cain returns to the ruins of Tristram's Cathedral seeking clues to new stirrings of evil, a comet from the heavens strikes the very ground where Diablo once entered the world. The comet carries a dark omen in its fiery being and it calls the heroes of Sanctuary to defend the mortal world against the rising powers of the Burning Hells – and even the failing luminaries of the High Heavens itself.

From the gameplay video, it seems a lot like what they did with StarCraft 2 – they stayed close to the game’s roots where everything from the interface to the gameplay is concerned. New inclusions include a destructible environment, and this is the first time that’s ever been used in an RPG.

Design
First off, Apple has refurbished the design a bit and the iPhone 3G is now slimmer than the last model. They’ve also added a new color to the line up – White - but that’s only available with the 16GB model. The other models will now have a glossy black rear casing, and I’m tempted to wonder, why go with a finger print magnet? The earphone socket has also been adjusted to accommodate normal 3.5mm pins, so users can simply plug in any headphone of their choice. Instead of a simple flat back it now also tapers a bit to give it a sleeker look and feel. Everything else design-wise hasn’t changed too much. Considering the fact that the new handset supports 3G and should support Video calling there still doesn’t seem to be a secondary camera located in front, so i guess that's not happening anytime soon then.

Features
Not only is the new iPhone 3G going to be faster than the previous model it’s also going to have a better battery life, which according to Apple would be 5 hours of talk time. One of the few rumors I’m happy to say are true, is the fact that the new iPhone 3G is going to be equipped with an integrated GPS unit along with a few other location-based services to help enhance that feature especially with Google Maps live tracking and photo Geotagging.

Some of the ‘bugs’ that have been fixed include an option for deleting emails in bulk, a new Contact search feature for looking up names in the address book and complete support for viewing Microsoft as well as iWork documents. It will also have a new scientific calculator. But the best part with the handset, at least for the business users, is the total enterprise support that the iPhone 3G comes with. Besides just that, it will also support Push email, Push contacts, Push calendar, Auto-discovery of Exchange servers, Global address lookup, and a Remote Wipe security feature. Wowee!

Nokia has launched the N78 in India, which comes with a special feature - the 'Location Tagger' application, which automatically tags location data to the picture - allowing users to save pictures by date as well as by geographical coordinates.

Additionally, the Nokia N78 will enable consumers to take full advantage of a suite of Nokia services, including the Nokia Maps and integrated A-GPS. The Nokia N78 is expected to retail for approximately Rs. 19,999. With its black surface the Nokia N78 will be available in two stylish colors: cocoa brown and lagoon blue.

"The slim Nokia N78 fuses features in new ways," said Vineet Taneja, Head-GTM, Nokia India. "It features location-tagging, which merges camera functionality and A-GPS to not only share pictures but also the places where they were taken. Users can now store all information about locations they visit using an image and share it online with the world. It also allows the fusion of music, camera and internet, enabling users to generate content right from the palms of their hands."

Touted to be the slimmest of Nseries devices with a 2.4 inch screen, the Nokia N78 packs high-speed connectivity via WLAN and HSPDA 3.5G and a 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics. The N78 comes preloaded with Nokia Maps of 8 cities across the country with points of interest across 52 categories such as bars, cafes, restaurants, hotels and more. Also included is an integrated 3-month navigation license with the device.

"The Nokia N78 carries forward the Nokia Nseries legacy of superior technology combined with a sleek form factor and truly lives up to the Nseries promise of delivering unparalleled mobile multimedia experience with latest technologies and services. It is sure to appeal to consumers who appreciate style and technology in a single compact device," added Taneja.

The Nokia N78 will also come with widgets enabled by Web Runtime technology. Combining the power of mobile with the power of the Internet, widgets, such as Weatherbug and RSS feed reader, allow consumers to get quick and easy access to their favorite web content.

The Nokia N78 supports microSD cards currently available up to 8GB, internal speakers and support for standard 3.5mm headphones.

Prince of Persia Prodigy

Awesum Graphics man.. !! Can't wait to play this one

With the latest Prince of Persia game, Ubisoft are planning on giving this series an entirely new facelift. For starters they're ditching the Sands of Time (which means no more rewinding or slowing down time) as well as the Prince we were introduced to in the Sands of Time for a new character who doesn't come from sort of a Royal family. He's merely an adventurer who’s trying to save the world against the corruption that threatens to engulfs it.

But this time round he's not alone in his noble quest; he'll be accompanied throughout the game by an AI-controlled hottie who goes by the name of Elika. Elika happens to be the last of the guardians who were to ensure that the corruption corroding the land stayed put. That obviously didn't work out as planned and now she's making up for it by giving her undying "attention" to the Prince. Unfortunately Ubisoft are not including co-operative gameplay this game, so you’ll be at the mercy of their AI at all times.

Gameplay-wise details are still a bit sketchy but we do know that the new Prince will imbibe tons of Altair's Parkour abilities, enabling him to indulge in all sorts of acrobatic abilities amidst a brand new open world concept. Also, unlike previous games, you won't have to waste time fighting large groups of enemies; you'll most likely go up against a single opponent at a time – but we're dead sure it's going to be a lot harder than it sounds.

The game's being made using the Anvil engine, the same one that powered last year's Assassin's Creed, and as you can see by the screen Ubi have ditched the gritty real-world tones in favor of a more "illustrative" look. We like what we see so far.

Far Cry 2

With Far Cry 2 Ubisoft ditched the island setting from Far Cry in favor of Africa's scorching savannas and will put players in the boots of an all-new character who's tasked with hunting down a nefarious criminal known only as the jackal. Similar to last year's S.T.A.L.K.E.R., players will be able to tackle this open world as they seem fit undertaking missions from various people, allying themselves with various factions and so on. In addition to this open world gameplay, a 50-hour single player and jaw-dropping visuals courtesy of the Dunia engine, Far Cry 2 will also feature a robust MP component for up to 16 players featuring "persistent rewards and experience levels" a la Call of Duty 4.

Blaupunkt Velocity 2Go 5
Blaupunkt, the car audio, recently released their hybrid, stumpy piece of audio gear in India, and the minute I covered it I requested a piece for review. Why? Because the Velocity 2Go 5 looked interesting: a powered subwoofer meant primarily for your car, though it comes with a full range option that makes it a portable player as well.

Design and Features
The device is quite medium-sized for a powered sub, and it is also lighter than regular subs – though way heavier than a boom box. That’s the case in point here. This should not be confused solely as a boombox, as that's just a mode of operation in this unit.
The exterior is faux aluminum, with a very Euclidean smooth shape consisting of semicircular sides and flat parallel top and bottom faces. These faces are broad, so they give the piece considerable depth. Having said that, I still feel this unit is very nice and compact for a car boot. You have to properly fix it though, with the help of external straps provided. The multiway car cable is provided, along with an AC adapter and a 3.5 mm jack both-ways cable.
The front is a glossy black hard plastic surface with the Velocity 2Go label etched on it, and a blue backlight illuminates it nicely when the unit is turned on. There is one input called MP3, and there is a pair of RCA at the back. The switches are in the form of cool three-way sliders on the top panel, with an auto mode. This mode turns the unit on when it detects a signal – typical car audio stuff.
The rear panel has flush-mounted dials for volume and subwoofer controls, something that irritates me, as we have to use our fingertips and move it awkwardly. Regardless that this is meant to be used in a car boot, the fact that it also serves as a boombox should have persuaded the designers to make a better volume knob.

There are 2x130 mm polypropylene cone woofers, with 2x19 mm silk membrane tweeters, attached on braces that extend out of the rim of the body into the front panel frame, thus covering the woofers. The woofers are exposed (not good) while the tweeters are nicely housed within a grille (good).
The unit works on batteries for portable operation; and you'll need eight AA batteries. Special rechargeable batteries can be used too, which get charged when AC power is connected, or the car engine is on. The power output is 80 watts RMS.
